4-HO-EPT, or 4-hydroxy-N-ethyl-N-propyltryptamine, is a synthetic molecule of the chemical class tryptamine. Tryptamine class substances share a core structure consisting of a bicyclic indole heterocycle linked at R3 to an amino group. The psychedelic properties are believed to result from the correlation between the 4-HO-EPT and the 5-HT2A receptors. However, the role and results of these interactions remain elusive and will require further scientific investigation. 4-HO-EPT contains a chain linked to the terminal amine RN of its tryptamine backbone (EPT).
